The Venetian Connection

Tradition has it that Venice was founded in AD421 by the people of the Veneto fleeing danger from the mainland to the wild uninhabited islands off the coast. From such humble beginnings Venice grew to be an immensely powerful city state controlling large areas of the Mediterranean shores.

The talk covers the history and principal sites of Venice itself plus a look at the many other towns and cities that for several hundred years were under the direct control or influence of Venice.
